Three days later, today, I tried to access Norton on Firefox without success. The technician concluded that it was a Firefox problem (although I had the same problem on Chrome & Edge although that was probably temporarily solved.) The second technician claimed that the problem with Firefox may be resolved within 24 to 48 hours by some updates to Firefox's servers! That technician tried for nearly another hour, without success, with solving the problem on Firefox. I should have let it go at that point, but I called in again with the same case number and got a different technician. When I tried to change the temporary password on Firefox for Norton the sign out problem returned. Unfortunately, the browser that I normally rely upon is Firefox. On Chrome and on Edge I was able to go back and put in a more detailed permanent password. Unfortunately, I used a short temporary password, as the technician tried and failed numerous times before the sign out problem disappeared on each browser. The technician did this for my three browsers: Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. As near as I could tell the process was to first clear the browser history, and the next step was to clear cookies, site data, exceptions, etc. I had to give access to my computer to the technician. I was upgraded to a technician after about 10 minutes on that call. I spent one hour with Norton customer support.
